This is a new dimension to the classic quest to find a name for new arrivals on planet earth: storefronts bearing their owners’ names.
Storefronts around the world bearing their owners’ name – two books in one! It’s a Boy – It’s a Girl adds a new dimension to the classic quest to find a name for new arrivals on planet earth: a name is a brand! Kirsten Dietz has taken almost 300 photos to record company buildings and shop fronts in the USA, Europe and Asia that carry the owner’s name. From car showrooms to hairdressers and corner pubs, from supermarkets to flower shops and laundries, countless fields of activity are open to the bearer of each name – an ideal way of helping new or expectant parents to make their choice.
With names from Albert to Yusuf and from Acelya to Yvonne, this double-fronted book (It’s a Boy in one half, and flip it over to discover It’s a Girl on the other) is also a beautifully designed photography book.
Kirsten Dietz has enjoyed international success for years as a designer, typographer and photographer with her agency Strichpunkt and has won many design awards. She serves as juror for many competitions worldwide and is a member of the Art Directors Club, the Type Directors Club New York and D&AD. Jochen Radeker, graphic designer and author, founded the design agency Strichpunkt with Kirsten Dietz and is one of the highest-profile creative talents in Germany. Jochen Radeker is president of the Art Directors Club Deutschland and has several international book projects to his name.
